Konwledge is Power. Frequently Asked Questions About Home Care.
1
What Is Home Care?
Home Care is supportive care provided by professionally trained caregivers in the care recipient's home. Home Care includes assistance with activities of daily living such as meal preparation, bathing, transportation, laundry, medication reminders, light housekeeping and companionship. Home Care is also referred to as in-home care and at-home care.
2When is Home Care Appropriate?
Home care is appropriate for seniors and adults who need assistance with activities of daily living or require ongoing care due to old age, illness, disability, surgery or any other medical condition. Furthermore, home care provides relief and assistance to family members who are no longer able to provide ongoing care or need an extra hand in order to take care of their loved one. This is also referred to as respite care.
3What is the Difference Between Home Care and Home Health Care?
Homecare is generally non-medical care related to activities of daily living. Home health care on the other hand is medical care related to illness or serious injury. Home Health Care is provided by a skilled nurse or medical professional in the recipient's home. Home care is provided by a trained caregiver in the recipients home.
4Is Home Care Covered by Medicare?
Non-medical home care is generally not covered by Medicare or Medical. Medical home health care on the other hand can be covered under Medicare when certain conditions are met.
5What is Live-in care?
Live In Care or 24-hour home care is a comprehensive alternative to any type of nursing or assisted living facilities for seniors who prefer the comfort and safety of around-the-clock monitoring and care in the comfort of their own home.
6What is Hourly Care?
Hourly home care is suitable for seniors and elders who prefer to stay at home, but need assistance with daily chores such as laundry, cooking, medication reminders and companionship. Hourly home care could be as little as four hours a day.
7How Does Live In Care Work?
A live-in caregiver comes to the senior's home and stays around the clock. With live-in care, a caregiver is consistently watching over the senior and is ready to assist in all activities of daily living.
8Will the Care Giver Move in to the Senior's Home?
Caregivers stay in the home only for the duration of their assigned shift. Caregivers must maintain a separate residence and are not allowed to use the personal property of the senior without permission from the senior. They may not have visitors or invite family to the home while they are working.
9Does Home Care Have to Be At Home or In Home?
Our care goes wherever seniors need it. Our caregivers can even provide one-to-one services for seniors during hospital stays or after admission to an assisted living facility, ensuring that seniors maintain the high level of personal care and companionship they deserve. Our caregivers can even accompany seniors on vacation!
